I currently have a farm with almost 50 citrix PS4.0 (all load balanced) with W2K3, but still on an MSDE 2000 data store. We have almost 700 users and still adding more as we are moving from desktops to terminal server based applications. My manager wants us to migrate the existing MSDE 2000 data store to a SQL 2005 cluster. I have read CTX677542, CTX112784, CTX104941 and more... but am still confused on the way to migrate the data store. The citrix Admin Guide only allows ugrading from an MSDE databse to SQL 2000. I was thinking about creating a new farm with the SQL2005 data store and then use the chfarm command to move the servers one by one to avoid downtime.
Is it ok to use SQL2005 datastore for PS4.0 ?
Please let me know the way to migrate the MSDEdata store.

Thanks........

Seems to be the popular thing this month, this was answered just last week in the Citrix forums: http://support.citrix.com/forums/thread.jspa?forumID=75&threadID=99960&tstart=0

Also make sure to read CTX112524 for tips. Make sure your on HRP4 for PS4 and SP2 for SQL 2005 (it fixes some replication problems if you have a replicated data store).

Andrew,

The link you provided does not talk about migrating msde2000 to sql 2005 cluster for PS 4.0, it's for SQL 2000. Are the procedures the same going from an MSDE to SQL 2005 cluster?

Yes, MSDE 2000 is essentially the same thing. Just make sure to be on the correct hotfix and service pack levels (see previous post) and follow the tips in that CTX article.
