I have started a new job and there is a Citrix XP farm running on Windows 2000. The problem is that the only CMC administraors are "Local Administrators" and the priviledge is "read only". So I am unable to make any changes to the farm. Users can access the applications ok but nothing new can be done. I am unsure how it has got like this is there a way of forcing a new admin into the farm. The datastore is MS Access.

Cheers

Hi Stuart,

Citrix have a utility, SlimJim, that will fix things for you. You'll be able to download it for Metaframe XP from Thomas Koetzing's site http://www.thomaskoetzing.de/index.php?option=com_docman&task=cat_view&gid=58&Itemid=159

It removes all exisiting administrators, and re-adds the local administrator with full admin rights.

Did you point to the mf20.dsn ODBC file DSN when running the tool?

Hi,

It does not let me get that far. I ran it in a vmware test server first so i could see what it did and that worked. However when i run it on live the error appears before i am allowed to selct the DSN.

This tool has worked for me servile times also on newer versions of Citrix Presentation Server, but be advised it is not an official tool from Citrix. Citrix will not support this tool.

Which ODBC driver do you use?, is this the same odbc driver you are using in your vmware environment? I guess not. This is an good example why your OTA environment should be the same as your production environment. Is it possible to restore a backup of your database?

Which ODBC driver did they use?

I fear that with a exotic odbc driver and the fact that there is no back-up, your options are limited. I think you should plan a reinstall of the farm and start collecting software. There is nu rush cause the users can stil do there work right? I wish i had better news for you.
