Any experience with windows desktop search 4.0 on terminal server?

After deploying office 2007, only limited serach options is available unless you install desktop search. I really don't like to hav an indexer running on the terminalserver. The admin guide claims that running on terminal server is supported but "there may be performance issuses since the indexer service is indexing on behalf of all users"

The index data is stored in "all users" profile, which makes roaming users have to build up their index on all terminalservers.

Is anyone running this in production or is there any alternative outlook search engine that provides advanced search options without indexing and without costing a fortune?

We have tried testing the Desktop Search 4.0 on XenApp.  The performance was terrible due to the indexing that is constantly being done in the background.  Just out of curiosity--you mentioned above "is there any alternative outlook search engines".  Outlook uses its own built in searching ability (on Exchange or PST) that would not aquire the Desktop Search 4.0.  I hope this helps...

I know there is a builtin search, but advanced search options is not availble unless you install desktop search. If you want to search for just subject and sent to or sent from field, you need desktop search, as far as I've tested.
